  1. This old school was a hedge school and was situated in Corrigeenroe, Aughacarra school. It was situated on the side of an old byroad. The teacher was Master Garahan who lived near the school in a farmer's house. The teacher used to get seven pound ten every quarter. They taught no Irish, only English. They taught English reading, Arithmetic, Agriculture, History and Geography. They did their writing and sums on a slate and used no pencil and
