In 1468 this oratory, with many others, was destroyed by the English under Lord Deputy Tiptoft, Earl of Worcester. No part of the Oratory now remains with the exception of some large stones or flags believed to be portion of the altar. A lake known as "the healing lake" formerly existed here but it became entirely dried up about fifty nine years ago. Its waters were of a yellowish hue and were used for healing bad sores and ulcers. Numbers of people suffering from diseases came regularly to this lake. According to tradition it dried up owing to the fact that some of the Pratt family brought a pack of dogs to the lake to cure them of the mange and after this the lake dried up completely.
