- There are three graves at a place called Callighstown not far from Ballyacargy in the County of Westmeath. The graves are know as the Giants graves. There is a legend in the locality that three brothers lived in a castle at Callighstown. The sige and strength of the brothers was abnormal. Any of the three could seize a full grown tree and pull it from the roots. The three brothers challenged three other giants from Roscommon to combat and after a fight lasting for nine days the Roscommon giants were killed and buried at Callighstown. The graves are a source of interest to many visitors.
