Padraig O Dolain, Cul Cor. 74. At Ballybrien (near Granard) there are two sets of piers, a pair on each side of the road. (Strangers often notice them because they are so big and so well built) There are also two forts, one on each side, in the fields on which the piers are.
The owner of the land prepared to build a house where one set of the piers is. When he had some of the stones drawn and other materials on the ground the foundation of the house was dug. Next morning when he went there the foundation was closed in. He was furious because he thought it was some bad neighbour got it done. He dug it again but the same thing happened; the third time it was the same.
