  1. A Shipwreck
    About ninety years ago a ship called the "Monarch of the Sea" was lost on a voyage from Ireland to America. There was some people from this parish on it namely Lary Lynch Lurganboy, Julia Lynch of Lurganboy and a few others whom I do not know their names.
    They were going to America. There were many hundreds of people on the ship. It disappeared and there never was any information got as to how, where or when she sank. Everyone on the ship was lost.
    There was great sorrow and regrets in homes in all parts of Ireland for those who were lost.
    A story is told of a man named Brady who intended to sail on this ship. He lived in Castlerahan and the day before the ship sailed he went to Father Conaty afterwards Bishop Conaty of this parish and asked him to say some prayers for his safety on
