    There once lived in the townland of Annagh, a man named Michael Doyle. One morning he informed his wife, that he was going to Granard to buy a new spade, and after warning her ''to keep an eye out, for stray goats lest they should eat his cabbage plants'' he set out on his journey. He was lucky enough to get a lift on a bread van, and so reached the town in a short time.
    After purchasing his spade he fell thirsty and bent his steps towards Kelly's, his favourite house. While here he fell in with a crowd of huntsmen , who had been scouring the country in pursuit of hares and rabbits. Time fled quickly and night came on sooner than
