  1. A Song of a Wake

In a little Irish town where all trade were running down

In a little Irish town where all trades were running down,
And Pat Molrane was pressed for ready cash.
His life insured and spent every fraction to a cent.
And his trade came hurling downwards in a crash.
    2
Pat's wife stood up and said oh Molrane if you were dead.
There is a couple hundred dollars I could take.
So Pat lay down and made out that he was dead.
Until he smelled the whiskey at the wake.
    3
Pat Molrane forgot that he was dead.
He got up on his elbow and he said,
If this wake should last a minute
Pat Molrane he must be in it.
So you will have to set me drunk to keep me dead.
