- The Devil's Glen is a very picturesque place situated about 2 1/2 miles from Ballyduff School. It consists of a vast hollow between two cliffs. A district called "Nun's Cross" is quite close to the Glen.
Here is a story I heard accounting for the origin of both names: Nun's Cross and Devil's Glen.
There was a Convent in Nun's Cross. One day the Devil came to tempt one of the nuns. Not succeeding in his designs he got into a desperate rage. So great was his fury that he blasted up the huge mountain in the neighbourhood. And the hollow this formed is ever since called the "Devil's Glen."
