  1. Many of the old people believed in certain cures and some of these have been handed down. They nearly all used herbs for certain cures.
    They believed that the herb called 'Ceannanán beag' boiled in milk would cure worms in children.
    Another cure for worms was the hot milk from a cow mixed with flour and given to the patient at night.
    Buttermilk mixed with bicarbonate of soda will cure a burn.
    To wash the face in buttermilk instead of water is uspposed to keep the skin young and prevent wrinkles.
    People who suffered from corns were advised to bathe them feet with bogwater.
    'Goose grease' was used to cure the thrush in children by rubbing the gums and the centre o the tongue with it.
    It was also used for chest colds, and for rheumatism.
    If a person suffered form rheumatism and rub the affected joints with the goose-grease it would cure it.
    If a person was bleeding from a cut and if he get a spiders web and put it on the cut it would stop the bleeding.
