    Local insurgents were led by General Roche, Garrylough and General Fitzgerald, New Park, who were relatives.
    Both generals fought at Oulart Hill, which is situated seven miles from Screen.

  2. General Roche is buried in Saunderscourt, in the parish of Castlebridge. General Fitzgerald is believed to have been buried somewhere near Hamburg. General Roche surrendered at Wexford, was court martialled and condemned to transportation. He was sent to New Geneva, but before the vessel sailed he died suddently. It is believed he was poisoned.
