Not many people emigrated from this district, as they all mostly are farmers who have enough work on their own farms. Ballyboggan means "baile bogán" on the townland or homestead of the "Boggans" who I believe lived here many many years ago. The land is hilly and marshy but parts of it are very good for tillage and grazing.
There is a little wood belonging to a man called Francis, and there is alot of other small woods as well belonging to other people.
There are several streams in it, and the River Sow flows through it to the Slaney.
At a place called the "Fort Gate" there is a big marl hole in Culletons land.
There are several old people living in the district and they have lots of stories of old times, fairies, ghosts, and old customs.
One woman living near me has plenty of Irish words which she(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
