(Graveyard)
I've often been to Saunderscourt graveyard which is round and level but is higher then the land surrounding it with no trees in it, but I believe there were lots of trees surrounding it long ago.
There are a good many old tombs but the oldest only goes back to about 1794 AD.
The most of the tomb-stones are flags standing up-right . A number of tombs are marble and I took a note of the oldest inscriptions I could make out and here are a few of them.
"Beneath this marble tomb lies the remains of M Catherine Eakins. She departed this life the 14th January in the year 1808 aged 83 years, also six of her children.
Here is another old inscription "Sacred to the memory of William Randall(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
