    The people of fifty years ago used to make their own candles. They would get a pot of fat off sheep which is called tallow and they would boil it and when it would be boiling they would get a stick and put as many cotton threads on it as would fit, then dip them into the tallow and when they were dry dip them into the tallow again and keep dipping them into the tallow until they were large enough, then they used to hang them in the window until they were hard.
