- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)made for any old man who was not able to pay the rent of his land. He evicted a poor widow woman named Mary Reilly who had a very large family in my district. They were thrown out of the house and the door was locked in order that they would not go into the house again. They got shelter in a barn belonging to a man named Patrick Reilly. Later on they got permission to sell part of the land to pay the rent and they got possession of the land again. In my district no battles were fought but in other parts of Ireland battles were fought on account of the lifting of the rent.
