- A man named Donlon lived in Carrickduff, Granard. The night of the Big Wind he went out to see a stack of oats & he took a blanket with him. There came a furl-blast. Donlon was knocked down & the blanket was brought off with the blast. Billy Ledwidge, called Bellico lived about half a mile away on the lands now owned by Michael Kiernan, Mullinroe. Bellico was opening his door to look after his house. The blanket struck him in the face & knocked him done.He rolled himself up in it. That was how Bellico came to get Donlon's blanket. (2)
