  1. My home is in the townland of Lackan, and in the parish of Edgeworthstown. There are eight families in the townland of Lackan, and thirty-eight people. The most common family name is Nolan. There are three two storied houses in Lackan and five cottages one of which is thatched. There is a hill on the road from one end of Lackan to the other, and Lackan means "A slope of a hill" This is how Lackan got its name. There are two old people living in Lackan one is over seventy and the other is over eighty. The land is not very hilly, some of it is good land.
