  1. In Ballynock there are the remains of an old castle hill. Some of the stones are to be seen to the present day. This castle was belonging to the O'Farrells of Longford in olden times. If you stand on the castle hill you can see two other old castles on each side of you. All those old castles are in a straight line. People say there is a crock of gold hidden in this castle hill from that time, and if anyone was lucky they would find it. They say it is very dangerous to interfere with it, and if you got a prod of a thorn you might not get better of it. It is also said that it's not right to cut a bush in it.
