    Once upon a time a woman and her daughter and son were living together.

So she went home and told her neighbours. They made up a plan to go out at one o'clock in the morning, and his mother brought a cross with her. All the fairies were out gathering butter-cups and she held up the cross in front of them. Her son came over to her and he came home. So they all lived together again quite happy.

  2. Once upon a time a farmer sowed a crop of turnips, and he employed a boy to go out and weed them. He told him that God would help him do them. The boy went out and began to weed the turnips and as he thought God would do some of them with him he skipped every second drill. When he had them finished the farmer came out and he asked him why he didn't do the rest of them. The boy answered "Didn't you tell me that God would do them with me and I left him his share.
