- There is a field in Tom Crinnigan's land at Adamstown and it is called the Bush Field, because there is a big bush growing in the middle of it.
In Tom Crinnigan's land also, there is a hill called Kill Breeda. Long ago there was a church on the side of the hill and the ruins of it are to be seen yet. On the side of that hill there is a Mass Rock and the Mass was said on it in the Penal Times.
On my father's farm there is a field called Padney's Garden. In an other field by the side of a river there is a well called Padney's Well. A man by the name of Padney lived in Peter Duncan's field of Castletown-Geo, and the ruins of his house are to be seen standing yet. The ruins are not far from the wall or the garden.
On the side of the Rathnugent road there is a bush called the Tinkers Bush. No one knows why it is so called.
There is a bush in Peter Donohue's field called the Beggar's Bush. It is called that because no matter how far the beggar travelled during the day, he would come back again every night and sleep there.
