Long ago there used to be a great handball match on Sunday at Castletown. They used to play from early Mass to ten o'clock at night. The best players were Mick Cudden, Mick Ryan, Tommy Barry and Pat Rourke.There was another game very common in this district known as Bullet throwing. It used to be played at Manus's cross. All the boys would go there on Sunday to play it. Manus's was then a public house. This game was generally played at the pattern. The bullet was a round lump of iron and sometimes it would be a large stone. The test was to see who would throw the bullet the farthest.
