- On St Brigid's Day the old custom is to open the door of your house and let in St Brigid. On Shrove Tuesday the people make pancakes and put a ring in them. St John's day is the bonfire day and the people get lit sticks and throw them up in the air. Sometimes the people make tea and have great sport. On May Day the people put up a May bush and decorate it with cowslips, and primroses and white thorn. On New Year's Day the people light a candle on each window.
