- The village which I live in is called Batterstown anglicised from Bhaile an Bhothair which means the town of the road.It was one of the five roads leading to Tara and the Croppies passed this way going to Tara. There are the remains of an old Rath which extends from the back of the school to the railway. It is supposed that the Rath belonged to an old chieftain named Regain. The circles can be seen all round the field. As I go home from school I pass the Big Tree where people say that many Bishops and people were hanged. There is a field called Middle Meath which was thought to be the Middle of Meath.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
