The people made their own baskets out of sally rods. The people dyed their own clothes with blackberries. The soap was made from sheeps grease.
Ploughs were made from home grown wood.
Matches were made from flint and steel.
Whips were made from rushes (and) plaited together. Gates were made from wood and pegged together with wooden pegs.
Churns were made from oak wood.
Paddy Kelly used to make the churns and barrels. Baskets were made out of sally rods. The rods were steeped in a drain for three weeks. Most of the baskets were made flat and were used for carrying turf.
The women spun the wool on the spinning wheels and afterwards they weaved it into cloth.
They made their own ropes out of hay or straw. They made their own gates out of wood even without nails.
