The Irish spirit was being hard pressed by his European rival and he screamed three times but the Howes offered no assistance, either through fear, or because they wanted to get rid of their unwelcome visitor.
In the morning, the family visited the field where the battle took place and found it all trampled and cut up.
The Howe family lost the gifts they possessed and from that time forward they failed to excel in any form of sport and were no better nor no worse than any of their neighbours. They never saw the strange being again.
