The wedding feast was held in the Brides old home. After the feast the wife sat pillion behind her husband and the wedding party headed by the married pair rode to the husbands home. They generally danced till morning.
A custom in this locality is the throwing of bottles at the doors of the unmarried of both sexes on Shrove Tuesday Night.
A wedding party was going to the Church. The best man who was also the bridegrooms brother remembered that he had not actually seen the "Fortune" counted. He called a halt on the bridge and declared he should see the dry 'money' before even he'd let his brother get married. The girls father got down from his horse and on a stone counted one hundred gold sovereigns. Quite satisfied both parties jogged amicably to the Church where they got married and we hope "lived happy(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
