    day while following their usual pastime the weather came suddenly rough and developed into a strong gale. The small boat in which they were in turned over throwing the occupants into the water. Unhappily all three were drowned.
    The second one happened on Sunday when three young men left to go to Foynes. Every thing went well with them when they left the quay, but when a mile down the river thinking they had not enough ballast to keep her down in the water they took in stones from the strand and again set on their course. As they were sailing the boat the breeze affected her, and at one particular turn the wind having caught the sail keeled the boat over. Then the stones they had in her rolled over to one side which caused the boat to turn over. These men were well known swimmers in the village, but two of them were trapped, but the other swam ashore.
