  1. Bread.
In olden times people ate nothing but what they grew themselves. They used to grind their own wheat and oats and make bread of them. The people used to grind the corn with querns. The quern consisted of two stones, one laid on top of the other. There was a lid on it which contained a wooden handle. This handle was fixed in such a way that it could be twisted and this was how the corn was ground. There is a man in this locality still living that worked a quern. This man's name is Michael McCormack and he lives in Derryluskin, Fethard, Co Tipperary.
