    There is a holy well, situated near the grave-yard in Clonoulty. There is a story told in connection with this well. A woman went for a bucket of water to the well to wash clothes. She returned home and put the water on the fire but to no avail could she get it to boil. St John's is the name of this well. Many people visit this well and carry away with them some of the water for curing purposes and other ailments.
