  1. 1) There was a school in Christopher Richardsons field about thirty years ago in Ardvar(r)na. Mr Jack the Hob was thatching in it.
    2) He was a native of this district.
    3) Schools were carried on in the farmers' houses.
    4) The master had no house and he used to give a week in every pupils house.
    5) All the pupils paid two shillings a piece to their master.
    6) They taught no Irish in the old schools because the British Government would not allow them.
    7) They only taught English and Sums and Writing in the schools long ago.
