- Na hAibne. Now, a celebrated [?] in the haigue, one short mile below Croom at Caherass - anciently (?) - see O'Duib(?) topographical poem - Is known locally as Ballynahound - Beal atha na habhann. The local pronunciation puts in the d in the final syllable. In the same way _ I contend - a final d was inserted after aibne (In the pronunciation of the place name under consideration for euphemistic reasons and purposes) making it aibned in sound, and so what has been construed as a double dative used as a nominature was really no more than an ordinary nominative case with the local dialectical d. added to it. It is out of a continued wrangling with the ongin and significance of this name that I have put down this conclusion(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
