  1. The number of forges in this district are five or six. The smiths belong to very old families who have carried on the trade for more than a century. They have forges mostly in the streetside or at the back of the street in by lanes.
    The forges in the country places are usually situated at the Crossroads. The smith prefers to have a water supply close at hand and as a rule fixes up his forge near some running stream. The forge is roughly built of stone and timber with a felt roof. The
