    doorway is sometimes built in the form of a horseshoe. The fireplace is built of rough stones. The bellows is near the fire and the handle is made of a long wooden pole that the smith may be able to use in order to heat the iron when it is placed on the fire. The bellows is made of wood with leather sides and connected underneath the fire a pipe through which the wind from the bellows makes the fire heat the irons.
    The smith has a number of tools the principal being an anvil, pincers, rash or file, hammers, sledge knife for shoeing and several other implements. He shoes horses,
