About thirty years ago a vessel loaded with coal for Ring was wrecked one stormy night, driven ashore on the rocks. Margt. Calnan's grandfather was one of the sailors. Men from S. Ring went out & brought the crew safely ashore. The vessel went down a few hours later. The captain was Captain Gosling of Ring and the name of the vessel was
"The Beatrice"

Another vessel "The Morning Star" was wrecked about ten years ago at Ring Bar. The captain was saved but the two sailors were drowned.
