    Kilcaskan grave yard is one of the oldest in Ireland. It was there in the eleventh century. There the Mc.Carthys were buried. When the first William O Daunt abandoned Manch and took up residence at Kilcaskan, the first person he met was a Mc Carthy, praying at the grave of her father by a famous oak tree at a place called "The Old Orchard". After a short time they were married.
    This grave yard is now obsolete and the present generation disputes the exact spot but history relates it to be at the oak tree in "The old orchard". There is now no trace of a burial place.
    It is said that there are several treasures buried there as the Mc. Carthys were reputed to be the wealthiest family in Ireland at that time.
