- Local Fairs
A pig fair is held in Dunmanway the nearest town to this parish on the last Tuesday in each month.
On the last Wednesday of each month a cattle fair is held.
Before the fairs, buyers sometimes transact business in the farmers' houses.
There are no local traditions of fairs held on the hills of the neighbourhood, near cemeteries, castles or forts.
The fair is held on the street. Toll is paid at four cattle fairs in the year, May, July, September, November and at every pig fair. A toll of sixpence a head is paid on cattle and three pence a head is paid on each pig. This toll is paid toMr T. Sullivan who, I am told "rents" ten from Lady Bandon.
Luck money is given by the seller to the buyer and is calculated according to the value of the animal(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
