  1. The Boatman of Kinsale

    His voice is sweet, his word is kind;
    His love is rich to me,
    I could not in a palace find a truer heart, than he;
    The eagle shelters not her nest from hurricane or gale,
    More bravely than he guards my breast
    the Boatman of Kinsale.

    (2)
    The wind around the Fastnet sweeps,
    Has not a whiff more pure,
    The goat that on Knock-Sheedy leaps,
    has not a foot more sure,
    No firmer hand or free'r eye, e'er faced the Autumn gale
    De Courcy's heart is not so high, as the Boatman of Kinsale.

    (3)
    His hooker is in Scilly van, when seines are on the foam,
    Sure money never made a man or wealth a happy home,
    So blessed with love and liberty, while he can trim a sail
    May he be mine and cling to me
    the Boatman of Kinsale.
