- Shops were not as common as the are at present. The people had to go to town to make their purchases. Buying and selling was carried on after Mass.
There is none of this practised after Mass at present. The articles that were sold were tea and sugar. Money was given for the articles.
Labour was given in some cases. Sundays and Fridays were market days in former times. The market places in olden times were in towns. There are still hucksters coming to the parish buying feathers and bottles. They still come to the district.- Bailitheoir
