Ar an leathanach seo
- In olden times shops were not near as numerous as they are now. In most cases people had to go to the nearest town to make purchases. Buying and selling took place after Mass and they also take place now. Groceries were sold after Mass.
Money was not always given for goods and sometimes one article was exchanged for another. Goods were and are bartered locally but not as much now as formerly. Labour was and is given in exchange for goods. Some expressions connected with buying and selling are "on lick" and "on strap".
Certain days were considered unlucky to transact business. The custom seems to be very old. Most people would would not put out money on New Year's Day or do work of any kind on Good Friday most farmers sow some(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
