  1. In olden times there were no chemist shops nor doctors as we have now, so people had to concoct their own medicines at home. Some of their remedies were exceptionally good and are still in use in many places.
    For DROPSY, tea was made from the Broom, sweetened and drunk. The Wild carrot was also used for this ailment.
    For CANCER, tea was made from Violet leaves.
    For ERYSIPELAS, Elderflower tea was used.
    For KIDNEY TROUBLES, tea was made from parsley, stinking crane bill, and Herb robert.
    For EARACHE, wool off a black sheep was put in the ear or hot onion juice, and for DEAFNESS a poultice of hot boiled onions was applied. The sap of the Ash tree when burning was good for a sore ear.
    For COLIC, a mixture of soot and water was drunk, and considered very good.
    For STOMACH troubles, Indigestion etc, tea
