"Batty Hegarty's Bit of Moonshine" was published recently, (a second time) in the issue of "The Southern Star" - "Réalt an Deiscirt" 24-12-'38.It is a newspaper published weekly in Skibbereen. It relates to an incident that occurred about 90 to 100 years ago.The remnants of the old park wall are still to be seen, as well as the ruins of Squire Beecher's residence. He was a kinsman of Sir John Beecher, Mallow Co Cork. Batty Hegarty's descendants are to be found in the parish of Achadh Dúin.
