The supper consisted of porridge or stirabout or ríobún and milk. The people used to sit round the table in the centre of the floor where there were large families. Some people used to have a table called the hanging table with one leg attached to it with a hinge and the other end used rest on a projecting piece of timber which passed through two iron staples driven in the back of the "settle".
