“There was an old man from Clonaglaskin...”
There was an old man from Clonaglaskin working in the mine at Allihies about seventy years ago. One night as he was coming across the hill taking the short-cut he slipped and fell over a cliff and was killed and a couple of days later he was found and buried. And since then anyone crossing the hill at that spot always casts a stone over the cliff so that the dead man's spirit would not trouble them. And legend has it that anyone who does not cast a stone will die in the same way.- Bailitheoir
