- (continued from previous page)procession bringing home the married couple. Long ago they strawboys brought a can for porter but this is dying out now. It is a reserved sin in this Parish and that must be the reason why.
It is an old saying
"Married in blue your love will be true"
"Married in green you are ashamed to be seen"
"Married in Brown you'll live in the town"
"Married in yellow your ashamed of your fellow"
"Married in white you'll die before night"
"Married in red you'd wish to be dead".
"Monday for Wealth"
"Tuesday for Health"
"Wednesday is no day atall"
"Thursday for losses"
"Friday for crosses"
"Saturday the best day of all."
When they would go home for the feast to the Bride's house they would kneel at the Door and the wedding cake would be broken on their heads.
When they would be going to the Church someone would throw and old shoe after them for luck.
