- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)The Irish people make it every year in honour of him.Flowers are put outside the door on May Day to honour our Blessed Lady. Long ago they used to have on May Eve what they called the May Poles. They used to have a festival and dancing and crown some girl Queen of May, on account of the month of flowers, this was before Saint Patrick came to Ireland and he turned them into Christian customs. They are still kept up in some parts of the country.
