- When St, Canice died it is handed down in history that the Kilkenny people came and claimed him. When in the act of taking his coffin a crowd of Upper Ossory people came to prevent them and to claim the corpse. A fight arose, and to the surprise of all, two coffins appeared on the ground. The fight stopped and each crowd took up a coffin then went to Kilkenny.
A remarkable green cross marks the spot where the corpse was laid down. (no title)
