- Potatoes are grown on our farm. There are six acres of land sown in potatoes.
The ground is manured before it is turned up.
People on small farms put their potatoes in ridges.
People on big farms put them in drills.
The ground is ploughed for drills. An iron plough is used. Wooden ploughs were used in past years. There are some wooden ploughs in the country yet.
The potatoes have to be cut with an eye in every set. The part in which there is no eye is called the "heel". They are cut with a knife. When the potatoes are grown up they are sprayed with blue stone and lime in order to keep off blight.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
