The different kinds of potatoes are Champions, Skerry Blue, Flounders, Aran Banners, Presedents, White Rock, Scotch Down, British Queens, Irish Queens, Shamrogues, American Rose and one of the earliest is the Kemp.
When Autumn comes the people of the locality help one another at the picking of the potatoes. Some help to pick them after the plough and others help to make pits in which they are to be stored.
Potatoes contain starch and some time ago instead of starch potatoes were used.
