  1. In my district the local fairs are always held in towns. They are never held at crossroads or in farmers' houses. There is a special fair-place in every town for the fair to be held. When a bargain is made the farmer and the buyer strike their hands together. Fairs are specially held for pigs, sheep, horses and cattle. The most important fairs in this district are held in New Ross and Waterford. When a horse is sold the halter is never given away.
