It is believed that in ancient times a school was built on the side of the road going from Haggard to Ballinlammy. The place where it was built is now called the "Ould Couls". The teacher was a local man named Pat Butler of Parkstown. It was boys and girls attended this school. Pieces of the foundation and a few stones of the walls are still to be seen where the school was built. There used to be no scool on a fair-day because the master used to go to the fair.
