  1. Long ago during the Penal Days when the priest were hunted there was a certain parish in Wexford whose patron saint was St Moak. When the soldiers entered the church they saw the statue of St. Moak. Two of them seized it and threw it out breaking its face in two or three places. That night the soldiers made the chapel their resting place. When they woke in the morning they saw the statue of St. Moak standing in the place where they took it from.
    The soldiers who were English believed in ghosts and left the place thinking that it was haunted. When the people saw the soldiers coming they all ran to the church for safety. The soldiers seeing this were delighted because they could surround them. They did so and then a few of them went in and poured a volley
